Cliënt Instructions Before and Aftercare Plasmage

When you undergo a plasmage treatment, we will do everything we can to make the treatment run as smoothly as possible. We also need your cooperation! Below you will find a number of instructions. By following the instructions, the treatment is more comfortable for you, the recovery is faster and it promotes an optimal end result. That is why it is important that you read the instructions below and follow them carefully.

The day of treatment

As soon as you make your appointment for the plasmage treatment, we will send you a doctor’s prescription for EMLA, narcotic cream. You can pick it up at your own pharmacy. Apply the EMLA 60 minutes before the scheduled appointment to the area to be treated. Apply it generously and generously so that it can take effect properly. Pictures will be taken before the treatment.

During treatment

The duration depends on the size of the area to be treated. A fibroid or mole treatment takes 15 minutes. A treatment of eyelids or an area around the mouth can take 30 – 45 minutes. You can go home immediately after the treatment.

After treatment

The following symptoms are common after a plasmage treatment:

  • Treated skin may show some redness and swelling;
  • You can experience a burning sensation, similar to a sunburn. This disappears after a few hours;
  • After the treatment, small crusts are visible, which will fall off on their own after 5-7 days.

what you can do to help the healing process:

It is recommended to cool the treated areas to prevent any swelling. This can be done e.g. with an icepack, or a bag of frozen peas. Make sure there is always something between your skin and the cooling element (gauze or washcloth). Do this for a maximum of two days regularly 10 minutes at a time.

Pain relief after treatment is usually not necessary, but you may take paracetamol. Check the package leaflet for the desired amount of paracetamol.

Keep the treated area dry for at least 2 days, so do not apply day cream. It is recommended to clean the treated area with water and/or a mild cleaner. Your doctor can advise which cleaning to use. It is important not to rub. Pat the skin dry with a clean towel.

During the healing process of the treated area very small crusts appear on the small holes made with plasma in your skin. These will loosen by themselves (do not scratch or rub). These crusts will last for about 5-7 days and then disappear by themselves. The ‘new skin’ may still be slightly pink in the beginning. This retracts by itself.

The treated skin is extra sensitive to UV radiation. Therefore avoid direct sunlight for 14 days from the treatment day. You should protect the treated area from the sun with UV protection for at least 3 months. This prevents the development of pigmentation spots. We do not recommend using the sunbed. Your doctor can advise on the correct UV protection.

We recommend a sauna visit for the first 14 days after the treatment.

We recommend a sauna visit for the first 14 days after the treatment. As long as there are still visible scabs in the treated area, we advise not to exercise intensively.

After 48 hours you may apply makeup again, but preferably as little as possible as long as there are visible crusts and preferably use mineral makeup to stimulate the healing process.

Check

A follow-up appointment will be made after 6 weeks. The effect is then largely assessable. The skin tightening by the stimulation of the collagen and elastin will continue for a few months. The treatment can be repeated.
