What is microneedling
During a microneedling treatment, the skin therapist uses a special dermapen (formerly roller, or pestle), with tiny needles, to create tiny micro-channels in the skin. Because the needles enter the skin perpendicularly and at a high speed, the skin is not damaged, but rather activated and stimulated to produce new cells, triggering the natural recovery process. The growth factors that are released also ensure the production of collagen and elastin. Microneedling is fast, effective, accurate and offers various forms of skin improvement.
Fast results
After a few treatments, you will already notice that the skin is firmer and smoother, resulting in smooth and radiant skin. Acne (scars) and superficial wrinkles are gradually reduced. Cell division gets a huge boost, causing old cells to flake off in the weeks after treatment. Healthy new cells are produced more quickly. The horny layer (top layer of skin) becomes beautifully thin and shiny again, as it should be, and there is a smaller risk of sebum blockages. Because the skin renews itself, pigment disturbances will also decrease (pigment spots, age spots and sun damage). Serums with a high concentration of active ingredients are also better absorbed into the skin.

The microneedling treatment
Prior to the treatment, there is first an intake interview with the skin therapist. During the conversation, your wishes will be carefully listened to. After an extensive analysis of your skin, we will draw up a treatment plan and provide information about the treatment. A serum is applied prior to treatment. This ensures that the dermapen can glide well over the skin. Through the channels created, the serum then enters the correct skin layer for optimal effectiveness. The entire area is treated with stroking movements, both horizontally, vertically and diagonally.
Depending on the indication and skin condition, the skin therapist will determine how deep the needles end up in the skin (ranging from 0.5 mm to 2 mm). Deeper treatment may cause pinpoint bleeding in the skin. However, this heals immediately. After this treatment, the skin will be red and glowing for another 1 to 2 hours. This will gradually decrease, but a red glow will be visible for a few more days. In addition, the skin will flake slightly. The skin therapist will provide additional advice on which products you can additionally use at home. The treatment is not completely painless. Depending on the region that is being treated, an anesthetic cream may be recommended and applied.

How many treatments do I need?
Depending on the condition of the skin, an average of three to six treatments are required for a good result. By treating in this way, the progress of the process can be monitored. Each microneedling treatment will be a boost for your skin.
After an average of 4-6 weeks, the skin condition will improve. This process continues until about half a year after the last treatment. As with other skin-improving treatments, the more treatments, the greater the effect.

Will I see immediate results?
The effect is not immediately visible after the first microneedling treatment. Due to the natural recovery process and the production of the body's own collagen, the first result is only visible after three weeks. The recovery is then in full swing and the optimal result can be seen after two months.
Is the treatment painful?
Microneedling is sensitive, but tolerable for most people. On request, an anesthetic cream can be prescribed and applied.
Is there downtime?
During treatment, small spots of blood may be visible. These will disappear after a few minutes because the skin has closed again immediately. The skin may turn pink to red after the treatment. It is also possible that the skin will peel or swell slightly. In some cases, small scabs may form. However, they disappeared very quickly. The skin will feel fresher and tighter after just a few days.
